Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on bodywork approach that focuses on supporting the health of the craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Practitioners use light touch to assess and encourage subtle rhythms and movement in this system, with the goal of releasing restrictions that may affect the nervous system and overall body function. By promoting relaxation and improved communication within the central nervous system, CST is thought to help the body shift out of stress-driven patterns and activate its natural self-healing processes. It is commonly used as a complementary therapy for conditions such as chronic pain, headaches and migraines, neck and back tension, stress and anxiety, jaw (TMJ) issues, post-concussion symptoms, and some developmental or trauma-related concerns, while emphasizing whole-body balance rather than symptom-focused treatment.

  • And Many Other Conditions

Is there any condition for which CST shouldn't be used?

There are certain situations where application of CST would not be recommended. These include conditions where a variation and/or slight increase in intracranial pressure would cause instability.  Acute aneurysm, cerebral hemorrhage, acute stroke, and some cases of traumatic brain injury are examples of conditions that could be affected by small intracranial pressure changes.

How many Craniosacral Therapy sessions will I need?

Response to CST varies from individual to individual and condition to condition. Your response is uniquely your own and really can't be compared to anyone else's.   The number of sessions needed can vary widely.
